Pain and Controlled Medication Program

Southwest Family Physicians and its providers have recently collectively taken a progressive step in the ever‐changing world of health care in formulating a program to improve the management and delivery of pain and other controlled medications. This is mainly in response to the growing problem of medication abuse in our society. We decided to create this program to improve and clearly outline provider and patient responsibility as well as creating an understanding of our approach to the proper use and management of controlled medications.

Our intent is to improve the management and monitoring of these medications between the providers and the patients we serve. Our goal is to improve patient outcomes and optimize safety to ensure proper use of these important medications in an effective manner. We invite you to provide any comments or concerns you may have regarding this program.
