Southwest Family Physicians 

At Southwest Family Physicians, there is no large group to get to know. All of your Prenatal and Obstetric services are provided by only four of us:

As your pregnancy progresses you will come to know each of us by rotating your prenatal visits around to each provider. Our goal is for you to feel comfortable with and know all of the providers that could be at your birth (many practices have 8-12 providers and patients often get delivered by a different provider than they have come to know).

We currently attend births at Providence St Vincent's and Legacy Meridian Park Hospitals. We have a great working relationship with our obstetric specialists whom we may call at any time for emergencies. We do not perform Cesarean sections ourselves, but in the event that you need this procedure we would remain involved in your care as the assistant to the obstetrician. Also, we would still take care of your well newborn and we would remain with you for the duration of your delivery.

In the hospital environment we offer low intervention births but have access to and readily employ any technology that may be medically indicated. We support women choosing to have unmedicated labors as well as those choosing to have epidural or medical pain relief.

After you deliver your baby we will provide breastfeeding support and see both you and your baby back in the clinic a few days after delivery. The midwives provide newborn care up to 2 weeks of age, thereafter you are welcome to continue pediatric care with one of the other Family Practice providers who are part of the clinic.
