Our Program

With Oregon Medical Weight Loss, our patients lose weight, and gain health!

Our philosophy is to empower patients with the knowledge and skills to improve their health through evidence-based obesity medicine, lifestyle education, and team-based support for rapid, but long-term results.

You may have tried several different diets, exercise programs, online GLP-1 prescriptions, lifestyle changes, or even other formal weight loss programs. Failed attempts can turn into frustration and confusion. Often these methods offer ill-advised or even dangerous shortcuts to a slimmer figure, with short-lived results. We believe that knowledge is power, and our group visits provide evidence based education that treats you as a whole person, not a number on a scale.

What will I do in the program?

1) Free Orientation

2) 1-on 1 Medical Visits

3) Educational Group Visits

4) Optional Long-term Support

How do I begin medical weight loss?

Your first visit is a free orientation. Meet Colly Perkins, our Patient Coordinator, to learn more about the program and determine if it is a good fit for you. You will receive a Body Composition Analysis and have plenty of time to ask any questions you may have.

What are medical visits for weight loss?

Medical visits are comprised of both individual and group sessions with a provider on our weight loss team, who are specially trained in obesity medicine. At each visit, your vitals and body composition will be measured so you can see your progress and understand the changes happening in your body. At certain intervals, laboratory results will be used to determine possible deficiencies in your diet or medication regimen if you have one. You will also have the opportunity to discuss issues 1-on-1 with your physician and find solutions to medication, dietary or lifestyle challenges.

What educational group visits will I attend?

We want to help you understand what is happening in your body, so you can make educated choices for yourself.

The group visits consist of a presentation by a provider on the OMWL team, and individual check-ins to ask questions, share successes, problem-solve challenges and create support for maintaining healthy lifestyle choices.

The information in the presentations support the information provided at your individual medical visits and cover a wide range of topics, such as nutrition, mental health, hormones and habit building that all contribute to a healthy weight and healthy you.

Is there long-term support?

We are here for you for the long haul. We offer a Phase 2 and a Phase 3 of the weight loss program, and otherwise, our staff and providers are flexible in understanding what long-term support looks like for you – you tell us! Whether it means 1-on-1 appointments with your provider, additional educational medical group visits, or just stopping by to use our body composition scale, we will continue our support in the capacity that best helps you.

In our experience, coming to the clinic provides patients with accountability and support. The most important time to come in is when you don’t want to – we are here to help, without any judgment, to provide you with the skills and tools to continue achieving your health goals.
