About Dr. Khaleed Alston

Dr. Khaleed Alston, ND is a naturopathic physician who is passionate about teaching people how to live longer and healthier lives. He believes that food is medicine and views nutrition as the fundamental building block to a healthy life. His medical practice specializes in diabetes, weight-loss, metabolic health, nutritional counseling, therapeutic fasting, performance optimization, and longevity. Dr. Khaleed utilizes a combination of naturopathic and conventional treatment approaches, along with laboratory biomarkers to craft individual treatment approaches for his patients.

Dr. Khaleed was first introduced to the power of natural medicine while his mother, Nuri, had metastatic breast cancer. She was given 6 months to live with a recommendation of back surgery from her oncologist that would have left her immobilized for the majority of those 6 months. Instead, she was determined to cure herself of cancer using alternative treatments. As Dr. Khaleed joined her battle, he was introduced to scientific evidence and real-life testimonies that affirmed the effectiveness of natural medicines for a wide variety of conditions. His mother lived for over 18 months on a self-prescribed natural treatment regimen with less pain and a higher quality of life than she had before. This process, and his mother’s eventual passing, gave Dr. Khaleed’s life a clear purpose which is to help others naturally avoid, and ultimately overcome disease.

Shortly after his mother’s passing, Dr. Khaleed enrolled in medical school and completed his doctoral degree at the National University of Natural Medicine. He has since become the type of doctor he wishes his mother had when she was alive. A doctor who is compassionate, who listens, who respects his patients wishes, and most importantly he is a doctor who is willing to think outside of the box.

A proud graduate of Morehouse College in Atlanta, Dr. Khaleed utilizes his background in psychology to help support his patients with conditions associated with motivation, anxiety, and depression. As a former teacher, he believes that a physician’s job is to educate their patients. For this reason, Dr. Khaleed works tirelessly to teach his patients about their medical conditions as he empowers them to take their health into their own hands.

Dr. Khaleed is a distinguished speaker who has given lectures on many topics including men’s health, fecal microbiota transplants, regenerative medicine, the microbiome, and racial health disparities. He works with local organizations to promote positive social change in the Portland community and is committed to improving the accessibility of quality medical care to BIPOC.

Originally from New York City, Dr. Khaleed and his wife have since fallen in love with the Portland area. They enjoy hiking Oregon’s many trails, visiting the seasonal U-Pick farms, and making weekly trips to the farmer’s market. An avid basketball fan, Dr. Khaleed can often be found playing pick-up basketball or lamenting over his disgraceful hometown Knicks.
